Is my corn dead?

Boy I was proud of this corn. It was tall and lanky and even had little ears on it. But Carl told me yesterday it's dead.

It doesn't look dead to me! But he said the ears wouldn't grow. He blamed worms. What do you think? Take the poll to the right!

  2. Darla- Me too! He seems to think because the tops of the ears have gone brown that the whole husk is shot. I sure how he's wrong!!

  3. Hi! This is my first visit here. I know of two possible reasons your silks are brown. The preferred reason is that pollination was successful! The not-preferred reason... there are some insects that eat through silks, thus killing them and preventing pollination. I would let those babies grow!

  4. Thanks for your input Maggie! I'm still spraying them for now- I have some corn I started later that still has green silk, so I want to make sure they don't get any insects.

I'm still hopeful! The plants look healthy!
