Kara's Garden

This is a plant I actually knew I could grow! Here they are on 3/8, just little tykes.

When I was growing up, my mom would feed us watermelon out by the pool in the summertime and we would spit the seeds at each other (very polite little girl behavior, I know). Once, one of the seeds sprouted and we grew a watermelon vine. I think I was about 8. Maybe the plant killing gene doesn't kick in until you're older...

But, here is a lovely watermelon flower!! I had 5 of these guys going at first, but I have spread the other 4 around the yard (and hidden from Carl- he has a problem with vines) within sprinkler distance. This is the one I'm babying, though.
